On April 5, 1984 My mother drove me and my siblings to Marvin Gaye's funeral in Los Angeles.
But not without some strange circumstances - I was almost ran over by a speeding car as we were leaving the funeral service when I stepped off the curb. I was grabbed just in time.

The 2nd strange event that night was when Marvin Gaye's body was shown in his open casket - as we stood in front, I was held up in the air by my uncle so I could get a clear view but I could NOT see him, and I was looking right at the casket.

I remember my uncle being upset telling me 'C'mon Marvin you don't see him?? He's right there!'. I repeatedly told him and my mother that I didn't see his body, even though everyone else could.
Tired of holding me up, he eventually put me back down.
I still remember it to this day.

What does all this mean? Only God knows.
But shout out to my mom for naming me after him. I've been a huge fan of his work my whole life.

So here it, from the vaults - a collection of beats I made from 2002 to 2007 using Marvin Gaye samples.
All beats made with just the SP1200 alone (no other samplers or drum machines used).
Thankfully all the floppies loaded.
